Ship 1000

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." - Mark Twain

Within the Boy Scouts of America, three of the main programs are: Cub Scouts (1st - 5th grades), Boy Scouts (6th grade - age 17), and Venturing (high-adventure programs for youth [both genders] ages 14 through 20).

The Venturing program is a co-ed branch of the BSA for youth ages 14 through 20 which provides positive experiences to help young people prepare for life as responsible adults.

Click here for information on Venturing in the BSA.

Within the Venturing program is a specialized program called Sea Scouts, originally organized to develop boating skills and to promote knowledge of our maritime heritage.

Click here (BSA information) and here (www.seascout.org) for more information on Sea Scouts.

The BSA is organized into Local Councils by geographic region.  We are part of the Circle Ten Council.

Within each Local Council are many districts, which help organize neighborhood scouting units.  Ship 1000 is part of the Gray Owl District, which serves Sachse, Garland, Rowlett, and Rockwall.
